Nest making on day 23?

I bred the two girls on Oct 30 and today we finished up the nest boxes and put them in separate cages with their own nest boxes.
The little brown doe who is an experienced mama just explored her new area and then went to lay down.
The grey one who I believe is going to be a first time mother has been working on her nest from the minute I put her in the new cage! She has been BUSY picking up HUGE mouthfuls of hay and putting them in the nest, arranging, rearranging, scratching, scrabbling, etc.
Today is only day 23. Should I not have put the nest boxes in so early?
We are going out of town Fri and Sat (just one night) so I wanted to be sure to have everything in place ahead of time. Trying to get everything on my list done as early in the week as possible so I can do my Thanksgiving cooking later in the week.
I have a goat due to kid on Saturday... Waaaaaaaaaah!
Anyway, did I harm anything by putting the nest box in so soon, and if not, what the heck is she doing making a nest so early? We were given these rabbits and told neither doe was bred...

I always put my boxes in on day 28. In my opinion, if you put them in too early it could give the doe the chance to start soiling the box. In this situation, I would probably remove the box and add them on the reccommended day.

Some does do that. It's no real biggie (at least around here). I put boxes in when the does want them. Some want them starting day 20, some want that day 30 (i usually have them in before then though). Hormones do wonderful things to a body and new time moms are really prone to first time jitters.

Day 15 I'd think....false pregnancy, but at day 23 I'd be less inclined to think that.

Some like to make their nests early. I wouldn't interfere unless she is using the nest box to potty. If that happens, you might want to remove the box for a few days and give her a plastic dishpan with litter as a litter box. Once she is pottying there, give the nest box (cleaned to eliminate familiar odours) back to her.

Thanks yall!
I will check today, and daily, to be sure she is not using it as a litter box.

I always put my nest boxes in a week to 10 days early. Most of my rabbits will simply burrow into the hay a bit and then leave it alone till they actually start nest building. Others will start making an nest and have the hay so chewed to pieces that I will have to add a bunch more closer to the due date. Some will simply eat the hay. I don't have any does that will soil the nest box before they litter, although I have one that will start when her kits are about 4 weeks old. Of course, I never put the nestbox in the "potty" corner. The "week to 10 days" thing has never caused me any problems except having to add extra hay. It has saved me several litters over the years, when either I or the rabbit got confused on the delivery time... I doubt if it was ever the rabbit

I have a doe that has to have her nest box by day 10 (not day 10 before kindling, day 10 after breeding) or she goes totally nuts! She builds her nest then doesn't touch it until she kindles.

The nest box is nice and clean this morning, and she has settled down from her frantic nest making.
I guess I'll just keep checking it, but leave it in there since she seems to like it.
I used some coastal hay which the rabbits dont really like to eat. I also put in fresh sudan hay daily and they eat almost all of that, as well as whatever grass and weeds I can scrounge up.
Danaus29, that is very interesting! A good way to tell she'd bred I suppose.
