Question 2 babies in one week down with the same symptoms -any thoughts?

I put them both down because I thought they were injured but thinking back I'm not so sure. Both had simialar symptoms:
- lying like they were dead. Once we went to pick them up their eyes opened.
- when we put them back down, they had no motor control, but would roll and twist from side to side in a panic until we picked them up again.
At that point I put them down with a .22.
I read in another post, similar problems due to bee stings but can't find it anywhere. I haven't seen any bees, but was wondered if mosquitos, ants or some other bugs might cause simialar problems - my wife saw fire ants at one point, but not in any great quantity. I also found an engorged tick on one of my adults.
If not what are the odds of 2 hurting their back in the same week?

I was having 10-week-olds dying one by one a few weeks ago. I lost three and almost the fourth but then I isolated that one in a cat carrier and he came around just fine.

After that I sorted all the babies by weight (they varied between 1.5 and 2.5 lbs) and have just assumed that since everything's been fine since, it must've been a case of the big ones tromping on the little ones, maybe to get to food...

The ones who died all were the smallest of the bunch but they were plump and well fed.

Never figured it out for sure though...

Had another one this week but it was after a HUGE thunder/lightning storm (we don't usually get those here) so I was assuming the same thing - little ones getting stomped.

BTW - every one of the rabbits that this has happened to have been from the same litter. Started out with 8, now we're down to 2.

Some does are very nervous and anything can set them off. They will get in the nest box or even on the floor of the cage and start stomping. They are powerful stomps and could injure or kill the babies.
If you have a large rabbitry one nervous nellly can set off the whole barn. We culled our nervous nellies!
When you are raising commercially and you get a bunch of stomping does , a lot of profit can go down the drain in a hurry.
You might havee something else going on but if you have had T storms and we have just passed the 4th of July and all the explosions it brings you might want to consider what is going on. Around the 4th I would give slack on culling , if you have neighbors like I do do, it is enough to put fear into every living creature.

We're in Canada - ours is July 1. We're MILES from town though, and town is where the fireworks are.
