Think I've solved the mystery

of the bald rabbits.

Found six dead kits on the wire this morning, and I haven't bred those does! Flipped over the white one that still has its fur, and sure enough, it's a buck. I don't need another single-mane buck, dagnabbit! It was sold as a doe and, stupid me, I didn't check.

Anybody want a cute little broken black singlemane Lionhead buck?

Yeah, I'd say that accounts for it.

Funny thing... Yesterday when reading Beaniemom's lament about Murphy, I got to wondering where that pesky Sex Change Fairy was hanging out... Now I know!

Rotten luck, Pookshollow.

I think *that* Fairy was hanging out somewhere else first, however! Same thing happened to me last month!

Bought a breeding pair of Holland Lops, brought them home. Kept trying to put *the doe* in with *the buck* and she kept attacking the *buck*, who would then retreat to the far corner and huddle in terror!

After a couple of weeks (I have a slow learning curve here!) I finally checked and ... guess what! ...

The *buck* wasn't!

Yeah, I'm miffed. Six kits for a Lionhead is pretty amazing, especially for a first litter. It looked like there were some interesting markings in there, too. Oh well, it happens to the best of us.

Guess I'd better take a good look at them - the other little doe is probably expecting too! Be nice to get her in a separate cage with a nestbox before she kindles.

I sent the SCF off from here a couple months ago. Thought I had 3 bucks and only needed 2 so I culled one. Big mistake, should have rechecked first. Now I only have one buck. On a good note the extra (buck) had her first litter of 4 of the cutest kits. 2 white 1 black and 1 broken. So cute and talk about chubby. OH MY.

Cheri, nice to see you over here!

If thumping is your only reason for thinking your doe may be a buck, take heart. Does often thump when they are annoyed or startled.
