watering system question

We are getting ready to put in a ridged watering system. I need to know how to temporaily close off the hole a valve is in.. What would I need to do this.
I am using saddles and 360 degree stainless steal valves.
I am only asking in case some thing goes wrong, so I can have the part on hand.

I have no clue! How many cages are you doing? You may want to put a valve or two along the system so you can shut part of it off.

Take the saddle to the hardware store and ask for a "plug" that will fit it... you should be able to find a screw in plug that will allow you to close off the valve for later installation. Also make sure you have a few extra couplings, elbows, T’s, and end plugs for the main line so that you don’t have to stop mid stream. Shutoff's as Beaniemom suggest are a VERY good idea!

We installed an automatic watering system for the pigs and the buns yesterday and they are all using it as of today. Not the best job I've ever doe but in about an hour we had the lines ran and everything hooked up with an endless supply of water on demand. Shy of a few drips in a couple connections that I've got to tighten the watering chores should be over til winter hits again YEEHAAAA.

If ya need help PM me and I'll give you my number.

A watering system is on my list of things to buy this year too! Along with a barn fan, a GPS and more cages! I am so NOT handy, so I don't know that a watering system installation is not beyond my skill level!

If your lucky enough to have your cages in a straight line it should be pretty easy. but our rabbitry is a square room. So we have to have 2 systems, one for the center of the room cages and one for the cages lined up agaist walls. So for the system it was going to cost $100 for 15 holes. But we've knocked that down by using some parts and pieces we already have on hand.

You should be able to take a piece of conduit and bridge the gap between the 2 sections unless they are more than 5 or 6 foot apart. Run your water line inside and start your taps on the other side...

We have some 5 foot long never used laundry hoses we are going to use to connect the 2 systems. Or we might use 2 buckets we're not sure yet.
The center cages are at a different level than the wall cages so we have to take that into consiteration.
