Apple cider vinegar in water

I know several of you have mentioned putting this in the rabbit water and I'm wondering how much you use?

I've added it to water for horses, but not sure how to "downsize" for bunnies!

The dilution rate we use is @ 2Tbs. per gallon of water. Some use 1/4 c. per gallon. We have found that any more than 2 Tbs. and our bunnies don't particularly care for it!

I do the same - about 2 T per gallon of water.

I just wanted to add, make sure what you use is "real" apple cider vinegar. Sometimes it may be labeled as such, but actually contains artificial coloring and flavoring. Not good for the bunnies!

Okay what is the purpose of adding the apple cider vinegar? I'm on well water, drilled well. And if the snow ever lets up my bunnies will be home having come from what I presume will be city water.

Nope, we're on a well here too. Although to be honest, what's underneath us is the Aberfoyle Springs aquifer -- you know that liquid that people pay $3/bottle for

Skip, the apple cider vinegar is not to purify the water, its to give the buns the benefits of the trace elements that the vinegar has. You could put it on their greens instead as a vinaigrette, but somehow I doubt they would eat it that way.

Many people feel that it results in healthier rabbits with less tendency towards bladder sludge from excess calcium and more interest in mating. The health benefits attributed to it for humans are equally diverse. I tend to put it in the category of "can't hurt and might just help."

Some interesting reading on the subject of vinegar:

We have noticed a correlation between acv use and cases of pregnancy toxemia. We give it to our rabbits and have never had a single case of PT. A friend does not use it and has lots of problems. Another friend uses it sporadically and has an occasional problem with PT. Seems too coincidental to actually be coincidence! We are gathering data from other breeders because I want to know if acv really is the key.
