Smile The Rockton Show

So Jesse (young rabbit crazy fellow) and I went to our first official rabbit show yesterday. Brought the toddler along to so that made things interesting at times.

It was interesting. talked with some different people. learned a few things about bunnies that I did not know before. Came home with two bunnies I hadn't planned on. Hubby was like...YOU BROUGHT HOME FOUR BUNNIES??? I thought you were getting TWO?!?!?!! But Jesse wants the buck but has no place to keep him right now. I have a wee bit more room so it will all work out. We'll probably share him.

Saw some marvellous animals which made me think how far I have yet to go in producing good quality show type animals. BUT that some of my bunnies aren't too bad actually! I keep mine a bit thinner, but otherwise good animals.

I had brought a youngster along that I had no clue what his colour was...learned he was a cinnamon and that's not a showable colour in mini rex at this point BUT that having that colour proves that my buck and doe somewhere have chocolate in their lines. Which I think is rather cool. Love that chocolate colour.

Got to meet some people in real life that I only know through bunny boards so that was fun too.

My rabbits went to Rockton without me! :banana02: I sent a senior buck and a junior doe - Magpie Harlequins. Apparently my junior doe won both her classes and was up for BOB. This is one that I only noticed (in the meat pen) about two weeks before the show. My buck didn't do anything exciting, but a good friend's buck went Best Opposite, so I was very, very pleased for him - his first show.

MoonKitten very kindly picked up my rabbits and took them to Rockton for me. (One of her Harlies went BOB - congratulations!) I was rather busy at the Royal Winter Fair showing my goats. (First time - yikes!) My other friend brought them back on his way home.

It's good to get out and see what is being produced to get an idea if you're on track to quality animals. I hope to get out to some rabbit shows (and a lot more goat shows!) next year.
