Tanning Help?

Anyone done this????

I have two "practice" pelts in the freezer to try (And of course didn't save any brains!)

I read thru the steps here:

http://www.braintan.com/articles/furs/miller1.html

Of course, I had questions they didn;t cover there!

Do I wet the fur like I would if I was just dressing it out? Or skin it dry?

What do I use to flesh it out? (A common household tool would be nice!!) How do I know when its fleshed enough?

When you work the fur the following day, is that just a one time thing, or do you have to work it a couple days in a row?

Do I have to smoke it? Anyone have a girly way to do this? Like I'm setting up a teepee and building a fire, ummmm, no!

I can see why people don't normally save the skins, wow, what a royal pain in the you know what that was!
