I use wooden floors with my full grown Flemish, so do nearly all the Flemish folks up here, but I live in the North, and don't have to worry about practically year round fly problems, wood floors would be difficult to keep clean in the deep south I imagine. I cover mine with wood chips also. I have a friend who keeps her Flemish on wire, its not just the worry about sore hocks, which I've seen in Rex but never a Flemish, its the constant movement of the wire, the rabbits are constantly shifting and readjusting and spooking when the floors start bouncing underneath them. And when a 17 pound rabbit starts running around everything starts rocking, reason why I build sturdy wood framed hutches for the Flemish. You could try wire floors and switch them to wood if you have problems, me I'd just do the wood myself. JMHO
