how many times before quitting a doe?

I am curious about everyone out there . Our first litter didn't make it. The mom may have squished them. She liked them a little to much. How many times did you breed a doe that had some problem or another and the kits did not survive?

I've had several that had problems. Ranging from not settling to eating the kits. Many did just fine the next go round and most had problems in the future. I don't fool with them now but if I did I would adopt a strict culling policy that any problems with production was one problem to many.

I give them three trys. That includes unsuccessful breeding attempts also (if i am sure it is the does fault). I wouldn't cull her on her first try though, give her another chance or two.

I'm with rz, give her three tries (the three strike rule, LOL!). You've got a lot of time invested in her, which to me is more valuable than the feed she's eaten. While you are giving her that extra two months, you've got time to get another doe coming along so you won't be lacking a doe for that much shorter a time, at least.

Besides, I guess I'm just a softie and want to give them a good chance.
