grazing chickens behind cattle

just finished a management intensive grazing course and am excited. I know that sometimes people run chickens behind other animals to break parasite cycles. I was wondering if there needs to be a rest period before doing so.

Or would it be better to leave a leave the grass a little longer and let them in?

I think I read that Joel salatin of poly face farms brings the chickens into the pasture three days after the cows leave. I'm not 100% sure but I think that's sounds right.
