Frozen Eggs

This will be my first winter with my chickens. I have 6 hens and they have a nice, appropriate sized coop with 2 laying boxes. Although I plan on using a heat lamp when it gets really cold, it's not that cold just yet. However, right now it is getting below freezing at night and just above freezing during the day. I just collected the eggs (3) and it was about 28-29 degrees outside. I'm not sure about the inside temperature of the coop, but assume it is close to freezing as well.

Anyway, if eggs do freeze outside before you collect them, can you still thaw them in the refrigerator and use them as normal, or would you need to throw them away? I just want to make sure we don't eat them if we shouldn't.

Thanks!

It gets really cold here too but I've never had a issue with eggs freezing. If they did I'd still use them the should be fine. Most eggs are layed in the morning you can pick them up early in the day if your worried about freezing.

I use them if they are not dirty, but any dirty cracked eggs are cooked and given to the cat or dog

I've found frozen eggs to not be a problem unless they have cracked. At that point, you can use them immediately or give them to one of the animals.
