Bitter sweet surprises today

well i found a Trio of Silver Phoenix not too far from me for a really good price so of corse i jumped on it, went and picked them up and am very pleased with these young birds,
got home and was concerned how my roosters would accept this new young stag and notice feathers all over the pen, something had gotten into the coop last night and takend my big BCM/EE rooster and ate the head and insides from the back and chewed up a portion of the rest, not a coon as everything in the coop would be dead, out of all the birds in the coop and even two guinea pigs in an open tub on the floor of the coop the varmit chose this guy, not cool, but that just means that the new Silver Phoenix only has a Cochin mix to deal with, here are some pics,

and then some more of the rest of my flock, including a large red Turken that needs to go, there are two of my game hens and a hen that i THINK is a campine and is crazyer than any bird i have had before, the little Cochin rooster is SUPPOSED to be a BCM/Cochin mix but he has five toes,

Ugh! Gorgeous flock though! I hope you can dispatch the possum. They haven't done too much around here, but last night I finally got rid of the big momma that's been around. I had taken care of two of her babies previously, and the third was hit by a car, so hopefully that's the end of it. Those were the only ones we've seen around so far. Of course, we're moving, and we'll be bordered by woods and a farm, so I'm sure I'll have a whole new possum family (and probably coons) to get rid of. :/

Can you find out where it came in at? I hope that it doesn't get anything else. My blue egg layers (ameraucanas, but most likely covered by one of my leghorn roos) haven't started just yet, or I'd offer to send some eggs your way.

I'm sorry, I wish you were close, I have some beautiful birds that I need to butcher.I have too many and a coon has been comeing in and takeing one hear and there. They now will not go in the coop and are roosting all over. They are very tame, when the coon comes they roost the next night on my portch, yeah, poop and all. I just bedded down the 2 coops because we are expecting alot of rain,I hope they will go in. Traping for the coon is hard here with all the barn/feral cats.

If only one a night is being taken. Especially if the body is gone too. I bet you have a hungry momma feral cat with kittens

The two game hens are beautiful - I'm envious.

If you ever come up north toward Huntsville let me know, I tossed all the chicks that didn't sell last summer out with my chickens so I have way too many easter egger hens right now and a handful of easter egger jueveniles that I suspect are gonna all turn into roosters (Older roosters already went to freezer camp).
