bad news, good news

bad news: neighbor's dog still likes to eat chickens
good news: our new improved chicken coop is dog proof (and has logs around the bottom to keep the dogs from digging in)
bad news: the other neighbors new VERY little daschund puppy does not live in the chicken coop and apparently, tastes like chicken to the fowl eating dogs.
good news: said dauschund puppy is still alive due to the fast action of it's human family.
Yea. Exciting times in the 'hood.

Now there are some dogs that need to be restrained. I'd be looking for my shotgun if they came around again.

I'm glad you have good news concerning your chickens and new coop.
Time for the dogs and maybe their owner to get an attitude adjustment

the owners of those dogs are trying.
Fixed the fence, the dogs got out.
put them in the barn, they got out.
trapped them on the deck (it's enclosed sort of - hard to explain), they got out.
IDK what they are going to do next. They have had those dogs since their kids were really small, so they are trying to keep them.
But yea, my neighbor on the other side, myself, and now my neighbor across the street have all had trouble with them now. Not looking good for the dogs. The neighbor with the daschund puppy ended up giving it away in fear for it's life 'cause it keeps getting out.

I am hoping our house deal will go through, which will mean that by oct(ish) we will be in a different place and not worried about dogs.

The delay in the house deal means that we can't run a pen of meat birds this year like we intended tho- ... bummer.

Our neighbor once had a dog that was tied with a log chain. One day it wanted to go for a walk and did, dragging the heavy dog house behind him.

I would be a bit more forgiving of dogs who's owners were trying to keep them in. But curious as to why your neighbors haven't tried chaining the dogs.

cindy, good luck finding a place where dogs aren't a problem.
