I don't feed DE to my chickens. I use it for external parasites. When I clean the henhouse I sprinkle DE on the floor before putting down new litter. Sometimes I sprinkle DE in their dust baths as well.

I put 1 tsp of organic apple cider vinegar per gallon of H2O in their drinking water.

I mix it with wood ash and put it in the dustbaths of my birds that are up on wire.

I had some tragopan pheasants that developed breathing problems because of DE.
Quite a costly mistake. I will never use DE again and refuse to sell or buy from anyone who does.

they may not "kill" internal parasites but i have had good luck with mixing the DE in with the dog or cats wet food to help get rid of worms. the DE is fine enough that is scratches up the worms & eggs, helping flush them from the intestines.

DE doesn't do any of those things

It doesn't work when WET

Most likely your animals just aren't GETTING worms to begin with, since worms are rarely a problem in adult pets

There are no PROVEN benefits to feeding DE to any animals

I have had good results from DE for worms, actually. Some worms may not develop into a 'problem' but they are absolutely a common parasite in adult animals, healthy or not.
I had a stray cat once that showed no signs of worms and was quite healthy. I checked her stools often and even though I saw no worms I decided that I would worm her with DE, just in case. Sure enough I saw her stool and it had dead and a few dying worms. The same thing happened with some of my rabbits and a stray dog I cared for.
For those who don't believe it is a good vermifuge, it's at least high in silica which many people and animals are deficient in.
Also, just throwing this out there, just because the benefits of something remain to be proven does not mean the benefits are nonexistent.

Silica is the second most common element on Earth, so most aren't "deficient"

It's most commonly found as SAND

Nothing "remains to be proven" since it's been in use for hundreds of years, and scientists KNOW what it will really do

Just because some CLAIM to see benefits doesn't mean they exist either

DE has never been scientifically proven to do much of anything except kill insects.

We've had many discussions on the subject, and no one can ever find even ONE credible source ( that doesn't SELL DE) that says its good for most things

what is DE?
Diatomaceous Earth

(It's powdered rock)

Quote:
Diatomaceous earth (DE for chickens - Poultry /ˌd.ətəˌmʃəs ˈɜrθ/) also known as D.E., diatomite, or kieselgur/kieselguhr, is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock
Diatomaceous earth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

People who sell it will tell you it cures everything.
I've even heard people say it will "cure Cancer"

But in the end it's just DIRT
