Well I've Started
I got my first ever batch of chicks today . Wish me luck.
I ordered 5 Ameraucana chicks and 25 mixed brown egg layers. and one thing I have learned on this site never say you have babies w/out pics so here they are and maybe you all can tell me what breeds I can look forward to
There are 2 that are this pretty red color but one has really white wings
Pretty sure this one is one of the Ameraucanas because her/his pattern looks like the Ameraucana chick on privett's website and it is the only kind that has 4 other chicks that look the same

Yes the bottom one is an Ameraucana. Looks like some Buff Orpingtons, and Rhode Island Reds?

There's nothing like your first baby chicks! Congrats! They're adorable and look real healthy. Yep, the bottom one is an americana/araucana. I second the buff orpingtons and Rhode Island Reds, but maybe they could be red sex links? Enjoy your new peeps

Great looking chicks! I'm only 4 weeks ahead of you in the chicken raising, and learning endeavor. They grow mighty fast! Enjoy!

I see some red sexlinks.
I saw some red sexlink pullets in TSC yesterday, and I was sooooooo tempted. Somehow I managed to resist.

One thing I learned with my chicks is this: No matter how cute they look, unless it is some emergency, and if you can help it, don't brood them inside your house. This one statement from my awesome and wonderful wife, "Oh, they're so cute, we should put them in the house." was a mistake. But,,,,,, we love them. I hope you love yours as much as we have ours.
Blessings,
jd

yeah we have them in an insulated and heated/cooled barn in the house the cats and dogs would torture the poor little fluffballs
they are sooooo cute and I can't stop checking on them it would be much easier to move them in the house and their chirping is nice and peaceful
NO MUST RESIST
