Two eggs I gathered today. both from bantam pullets I raised this spring. The blue egger was from the only blue egger pullet I raised.
the brown egg is a mystery since most of my bantams lay white to creme colors.
I am getting 8 eggs a day from my bantams.
I have a flock of silkies and will be glad to see what they lay.

Top is a buff orpington pullet egg.
Bottom left is a bumpy black australorp egg.
Middle right is an Araucana egg.

Not my picture - posted to Wikipedia.org by Abrahami. These are Marans eggs, but I'm not sure which of the 9 recognized Marans colors they are from. Beautiful though.

From my Easter-egger, Lucille. Normal-sized egg from her on the right. The big one was a double-yolker, and those yolks were HUGE.

AT..those must be for your egg customers...I can see you going from carton to carton and putting the colors in the same place in each...awsome! Are you using Marans or Wellies for the darkest ones?

Ladies, either you all have small hands or your pullets are laying monster eggies!! Congrats!

If you want to see an old pic(the bird has died) I'll post a pic of my eggs from my egg contest winning days..Black Copper Marans...

put your eggs up!!! - Poultry..what the heck, I was very proud of those in my day!

Yes. When I have enough of each I put them into the cartons in a particular order. It's sort of a trademark thing. The darkest are from Marans, but only a few as they are not good layers. I must say though that the ISA Browns which are the bulk of my brown egg layers produce a pretty decent shell color. Not Maran dark, but better than a lot of my Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, and Buff Opringtons.

I've noticed the same with the ISA eggs here.

We have a Bantam Brahma, a hand full of EasterEggers, two Buff Orpingtons (sp) a Black Star, and two EE/Orpington crosses.
We went for months without getting a single egg and just in the last couple of weeks have been getting eggs again. We are so very happy! I really dislike using store bought eggs, especially after not having to for 3 years!

I was getting ready to make bread and this bowl of eggs was hollering to have it's picture made! The larger eggs come from my two old girls Dottie and Jemima, their three daughters and two buff orphingtons laid the rest except for the green ones, Tammie Faye laid those.

That picture of your hen cracks me up! I can imagine her with a Bronx accent saying "Hey, working here da ya mind?" LOL. I get that same attitude when mine are on the nest, so funny. Who says chickens aren't expressive?

Haven't had an egg since October and am feeling QUITE annoyed and am, frankly, green with envy!
However, my Muscovy's have started mating (first since the eggs laid/hatched/ducklings raised.) I wonder if they'll lay at all this winter? I could go for some duck eggs!

We have quite a few different breeds and I don't know what's laying what but here is a pick of some of their eggs...in my paternal great grandma's egg basket. She had a chicken farm when I was a kid.
