Mystery solved & a new visitor..

So I've been trying to figure out who was giving me white eggs....

I had my suspicions, but was told the bird I thought it was, wasn't even a hen, rather a young roo.... She is supposed to be a Blue Andalusian.... Neurotic little bird......caught her today by accident & not only is she definately a hen, but she's also my white egg layer.....Lays good sized eggs too:

She's the blue/gray bird with the white earlobe & big red comb/wattles:

Oh & the new arrival is that skinny lil gray & white kitten someone so kindly dumped off...

Today was "clean the fridge day" & the chickens, barn cats & our latest addition were chowing down on leftovers from the fridge

Thanks....we like color

We have the high production reds, & that roo is the sweetest, most mellow boy ever. He recently became "the roo" because our last one was evil & went to freezer camp....Then we have 2 jersey black giant girls, 2 speckled sussex hens, 1 Welsummer, 1 Blue Andalusian, 3 silver/blue cochins & 3 of the EE's.......I had 3 Buff Orpingtons & 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes, but they were the most high strung birds ever & extremely fearful despite being raised exactly like the others so I gave them away....

Since we like so much variety I think I'm going to add some sexlinks (haven't decided on red or black yet) then a few Polish & Silkies just because they are cute

It's nice to have the egg mystery solved....She's been laying a lil over a month, but we're getting an average of 5 white eggs per week....One week we got 6

Even your cats are colorful! Cute pictures and I'll bet you are glad your "roo" is actually a hen and laying well for you!

I had two Andys a few years ago - a blue named Kali and a black named Windy. Windy settled down a bit when she got older, but Kali never really liked people. They are kind of flighty, but so, so pretty! Their coloring makes up for the nutty gene, in my opinion.

I'm not sure who crossed with who, as I raised some mutts for a while just for fun, but I ended up with a blue hen with a gold-laced neck and head. She was gorgeous. Everyone wanted her! So I would agree... Keep some of her eggs if she breeds and you plan to hatch anything, just to see what you'll get! Mutts are full of color, and if you like color, they're always a good surprise too!

Nice animals and it's great that your spazzy girl is a good layer. I love the blue ones especially.
That community feeding is exactly what goes on up here, except add in a dog or two in the mix.

Our 4 Blue Andalusians are kind of flighty, but also aggressive to the other girls. We love them all the same.

Oh silverflame that is a pretty bird!!! We like all colors except white....All my white ones get killed for some reason...

Found out today my lil blue andy can FLY! Pretty good too (for a chicken anyways). Hopped up on the goat pen rail (about 6ft tall) & flew from there almost up to the porch.... Which is about 75+ft!

You wouldn't see any of my bigger birds doing that

I'm surprised she's laying as well as she is & the size of her eggs is surprising given how tiny she is.
