Bigger every day!
These are our first chickens. We've had turkeys and ducks in the past. Bought chicks this spring. Our Black Copper Marans was the first to begin laying. 7 eggs in 9 days! Last few eggs, each one has been bigger than the previous! Today's was 1 7/8 ounces. Yesterday's was 1 3/4 ounces. First one was a mere 1 3/8 ounces. We have them lined up in an egg carton. Going photograph her first dozen, for documentation, and maybe blow a few of them out to save. They aren't very dark, maybe only a 4 on the Marans color chart. But they are very pretty and our first chicken eggs.
We are trying to figure out who will be the next to begin laying. I'm guessing the Blue-laced Red Wyandotte.
