Chicken eatting dog..

My hound pup just killed a chicken today. I had read a thread one time of different methods of getting a dog to never look at a chicken. I am wondering if any of you have any tried and true methods that may work other then lynching.

I am going to order an remote zapper now.... But he can never do this again... I like free ranging my hens. He occasionally would give them a lil chase, but never anything excessive that caused me worry. So I thought I was in the clear, I guess not.

I would suggest you either get rid of the dog or keep the birds securely penned 24/7. Hounds are just going to chase birds, it is part of their nature. You can try a remote control collar, it may help, but I'd never trust the dog.

Now, this subject ALWAYS deteriorates into a fight. I've given you my best advice on the subject and I'm going to close the thread, before the fight starts. Sorry, it is just one subject that is hard to discuss on an open forum.
