I owe Cyngbaeld a drink...

Back in April, I started this thread:
Could y'all give me some peace of mind?

I asked all over the place about that Easter Egger. Someone on BYC claimed that the color pattern on that one only occurred in females.

Well.... I was still asleep at 8:30 when this horrible sound filled my ears.

So horrible was this sound, I was convinced that NewtCat laid beneath my window dying from some horrible wound.

As quickly as I could, I fell out of bed and scrambled for clothes. As I did, the death-cry rang out again.

Read the rest at my blog...

Feel free to say "I told you so."

Reading the original post, can somebody tell me what/where "hackle feathers" are? Is that a "tell" for just that breed or does it include other breeds? (not trying to hijack, just wondering)

Oh, lord. You know that sick/hot feeling when all the blood runs to your head when you know something is TERRIBLY awry? I was losing my mind thinking the cat was dying, especially since it's my HUSBAND's cat, and he was at work, and oh my god, I would have to call him about the cat, and we just spent money on the dog's ear infection, and and and and and....

Cornerstone, the hackle feathers are the neck feathers, down onto the shoulder. All breeds have them. Hen hackle feathers and rooster hackle feathers should be different (not sure about the hen-feathered breeds like Sebrights, though).
