What am I? (pic)

The black n white hen toward the right is my mystery hen. Bought as a chick at the feed store; was supposed to be Ameracauna. She is 9 years old and just as spry and active as ever. She still lays but only about once a week. Her egg is very light, almost white. Anybody recognize what she is??

She is smaller than those Golden Lace Wy's in the photo, although it's a lot more obvious in person. I see the similarity between her and them in markings, comb, etc., but the size difference threw me. I am just amazed how long she is living. The other "chicks" that I got the same time as her are long dead.

I have one of those. I got her from the feed store. They're pretty.

I have an Ameracauna that is 8 years old.

I agree with Silver Laced Wyandotte, I have 8 of them. Mine have light tan eggs, good sized ones at that.

If she is still going that long, its due to some great living conditions & a healthy diet.

I have a Barred Rock that I believe is over 5 yrs old. She was the ONLY one out of a group of 15 I kept. I started with them first, a few years ago & they were already second hand, second hand (yes twice second hand birds) birds at over 2 yrs. The ole Barred Rock still lays a couple times a week and looks better NOW then ever before.

Our golden laced are all bigger than the silver laced as well.

I read that the Wyandotte's original breed name was 'Winnebago', as in the big ol' motor homes. I always giggle and call the huge girls Winnebagos when one of them is lurching around a full head above the petite breeds we have.
