Meet a few of my girls.

Hi! I don't post here much, but the Austalorps and Ameraucanas are growing up, and I just wanted to show their pictures.

The venerable Skwish-e, my husband, built the coop and pen.

Your Ameracaunas are prettier than mine. What hatchery did they come from? Mine are white with buff splotches, some almost all buff. They have been good foragers and layers, just not so pretty. You have a nice little setup, too.

Thanks! I bought them from a local store. I don't know what hatchery they got them from.

I have 3 two week old Americaunas that remind me of baby quail right now (their coloring). I got them at my local Feed Barn and they are the cutest things!

Thanks all, and my husband says thanks for the compliments on the coop and run. They are enjoyable birds. They are really friendly. If they see you coming, they run up to the edge of the run like they are saying hi. =0) Fun. We have had chickens before, but I don't remember them being this personable. Maybe I don't remember because my kids were little and I was too busy to notice. But I sure am enjoying them this time around. Hope for eggs in the next couple of weeks. =0)

I think he found plans online for at least the run part of it. =0) I hope you get that figured out with your chickens. I have 16 chickens! It's still chilly here, so they come in and out of the coop all day when they get a little bit cold to get out of the wind.

Thanks. I didn't take pics of the inside. I'll see if dh can do that when he gets home. It's pretty simple. Ventilation is at the top just under the roof.

Just an update.

The girls are starting to lay now. It seems like it took a long time. But light affects these things I am told, and we are in the far north. But we are getting lovely green and brown eggs.

Your girls are so pretty! Yay for eggs! Our new girls aren't laying yet, but I think we've got another month before they'll start.
