First I have heard of them, very interesting. They sound like a breed still in the making.

What is your interest in them? Because if you just want a golden chicken that lays a lot of eggs, there are other buff breeds already out there.

I contemplated trying the Buff Rocks this year(Barred Rocks and White Rocks are used in some sexlinks), Buff Orpingtons are big sellers around here(if you ever thought about selling extras) and I think the Buff Leghorns are really starting to catch people's attention(but they are white egg layers).

To order 25 of the Braggs Mountain Buff with shipping is going to be about $135 ($5.40 a chick) and they only sell straight run. It may just be me, but I prefer to order from larger hatcheries if I'm looking for primarily egg layers. Simply because I can order pullets and not have to feed extra roosters. I know I can always sell extra hens, extra roosters hit the pot because you can hardly give them away.

Not trying to talk you out of them. If these are what you want, go for it. Just letting you know are other options if you are just looking for a buff, brown egg layer.

There are also Buff Wyandottes, which are (to my eyes) just as pretty as Buff Orpingtons, equally good layers (and broodies), and have rose combs so are less susceptible to freezing in cold areas.
