New egg layer

I hatched 9 chicks this spring and kept one for a hen, she layed her first egg last thursday, the next day she layed a double yolked egg and everyday since. I think I will keep her. I wish I had kept 3, the mother, my old hen is laying every other day, she is 6. I also have a 3 yr. old. All Buff Orphington, always liked them. All from original chickens from my grandmothers flock, she died in 1980. I let one set every year....James

Thought double yoke was a fluke or a glitch in the chicken. Never heard of everyday. Are you just going by size or did you crack them?
