Sex Link ?

I have a flock of Buff Orps: 1 male and 16 hens. This rooster is all over the hens. I have recently blended mature sex link hens into this flock for the Winter. The rooster will not mate them. He comes near them and they will squat in prep for him to mate but he does not do it.

WHY?

some roosters dont automatically see new hens that look differint from what he is used to as being hens, i have had a rooster that even though he was kept in a mixed flock of differint kinds of hens he was slow to accept a white leghorn when i added some new hens and he NEVER accepted a NewHampsire, she was the only "red" hen in the flock and he for some reason thought she was a HE, poor girl never got any lovein, it took him a while breed the white leghorn and she was never his favorite but he would breed her from time to time,
now the cochin mix and the Black Sexlinks he accepted right away,

give him time and he will figure it out, Chickens can be prejadise sometimes, i have even had a hen that would kill any chick she hatched when she was broody that was not black like her, needless to say she never got to go broody again,
