New Adoption

When I got home this afternoon I was greeted by a couple I didn't recognize. They told me that they found my chicken on the road, caught him and returned him to us. I thought it was odd that my chickens would be on the road since the present group of four doesn't seem to venture that way. Besides, she would have returned to the yard if they'd given her another 30 seconds. But, they are townies and I thanked them.

They found this guy on a two lane highway five miles from my place and didn't want him to get killed. Well, that seemed a little odd. And they said he was hiding "in there", it was the black and white one. So, I showed them my chickens, 3 buff brahma and a comet. I don't have any black and white chickens. Showed me where the rooster was hiding (apparently the sight of my egg layers terrified this rooster and he ran and hid). Well, we got him out, along with the egg he'd laid. Very docile, used to being handled.

Spot has one eye closed, I'm assuming she is blind in that eye. She's got some boo boos, either from being too close to the highway and getting gravel kicked at her, or from a small predator. Well, they were thrilled to have found a home for the rooster, er, chicken and went on their merry way. By the way, they are honeymooners.

What a heart warming story.
Good on them and you for caring.

Have you figured out what she is?

Aw. That was easy.

Plus, she has already proven she can earn her keep.

Congratulations on the new 'rooster'.
