Anybody having an odd breeding season?
Have you been having an odd breeding season with your waterfowl (or other birds) or have you talked to any folks who have had anything unusual going on? Several geese breeders I'm in touch with across the country and myself have been having an odd last several months with their geese. I had heavy breeding and egg laying in November - December 2009 which I've never had happen before since geese are season breeders/layers with a breeding season typically from Feb. - May. Next, the breeding season that typically starts for us around mid February was delayed by a few weeks and now I'm getting lower than average egg production and low fertility with some of my breeders. Nothing has changed with my feeding program or the weather. No supplemental lighting has been used. Just wondering if you've heard anything like this with the people you are in touch with. Thanks for any feedback.
