Chickenista made me do it.... :)

Finally! After what seemed like forever, my girls arrived in June. Nothing special, just regular 'ole Rhode Island Reds.... Ten of them. But they're all mine!

(Chickenista made me post pictures ~ and has already been on the receiving end of a couple of silly frantic phone calls.... )

No phone calls concerning new chickens are silly ones. Ever. Ok.. except from this one local lady, but she is extra special.
Pretty ladies all plump and flushed with the blush of fertility!
If I must take the blame/credit..so be it. I have been blamed for much worse, I assure you.

They look healthy and friendly. Names? Favorite personalities? Future breeds you'd like to raise?

Likely the start of something big! I know! We started with 2 and now have....lots!

Hmmm.... I haven't named them, although I can tell nearly all of them apart. Usually I address them as "Layyyyydeeeees!!!!" from the yard, which brings everyone running to the gate. And then everyone gets named "Move!" when I attempt to get into the run or coop. They're all terribly cute, and quite friendly. I, however, am merely the giant food dispenser as far as they're concerned.

Everyone's fat, shiny, healthy, and quite talkative. I'm happy for the eggs, but would love 'em no matter what.

RIR are so, you know, "New England-y", that I'm not sure I want anything else..... But just wait. You never know!

They are special. They are yours. That, in my book, makes them special.
