Question Double Yoke Egg Question

A friend's little boy wrote to me and asked if a double yoke egg could hatch. I assume that it would be yes, but would it be twins?

I've always heard they won't survive to hatch.

No, they very seldom hatch. They usually die partway thru the incubation period.

Unless this was "photoshopped to death", yes it is possible.

Rare? I'm sure.

Backyard chicken website has a forum link with someone that did successfully hatch twins. It is very rare though.

There's seldom enough room in the shell for two fully formed chicks
