Pig waterer

Just seperated some piglets and put this waterer in. While it was filling up they were already figuring it out! I love these waterers!

I don't like those things for such large mouths. Pigs drink a lot of water and getting tiny sips over an hour is crazy. I would rather use the horse drinker, where they press down on a lever and the small bowl fills with water. No chewing and such with those. Even my rabbits hate the dog bottles, still not large enough to get the amount of water they need out, they bite and shake the bottles.

Looks great, Menglish! I used a nipple waterer for my hogs last year and it worked perfectly! Cost me $5 to set up, and they had fresh, clean water all day long.

Rabbit water bottle nipples are not the same as hog nipples. They don't have a roller ball, they have a lever that they bite on and the water flows freely. No problems getting large amounts of water very easily.

Beautiful hereford pigs, too! I get a kick out of watching some of our bigger hogs sitting at a barrel and just sucking away. No sips there! My husband uses a much shorter pipe, one that just fits through the fence. He thinks a longer one will get scratched on and rubbed on and end up leaking around the entrance to the barrel. Just a thought you might watch for.

I agree on the length of the pipe cedarcreekranch. That barrel was originally set behind a 4X4 post and attached to it for the larger hogs. I need to place a shorter one on that set up before they get too big.

Tiny sips? The water flow in my set up, which is similar, is so strong it pours from their mouths.
