Pictures of Idaho Pasture Pigs in their first Snow

Today we had our first real snow storm here in eastern Washington. Our Idaho Pasture Pigs were hesitant to come out of their hut as this was their first introduction to snow. After coaxing them out with pumpkins and peas, they trompled along their pen rooting up the snow!

In the first photo Taz is being such a gentleman and waiting for Penelope Pig to finish her bites.

The breeder says that will make market weight at around 200-250 in roughly the same amount of time as "standard pigs" depending on the time of year of course and their diets.

Any estimate on current weights?

What are their lengths and girths?

See:

for what I'm referencing.

Hey Walter,

My DH purchased me a Coburn Hog Weigh Tape for my Xmas stocking, so plan to go out this afternoon and take measurements. Your string method is great, will do a comparison for accuracy! Will post information either tonight or in morn.

I'm excited to find out how they compare to the York/Duroc crosses we raised last year. Thanks Gerold!
