Cattle feed for pigs?

A friend of mine has a good bit of leftover beef cattle grain he had for his cows. He offered it to me to feed to my pigs. Is it okay to feed them this? Its not old or moldy or anything.

Thanks, Collin

It would probably be fine, but your pigs might start mooing :-)

Seriously though, I'm not an expert on hog feed (my disclaimer), but we had some extra cattle feed that we fed to our pigs in the spring and all is well...

I'm sure they will eat it but doubt they will thrive off of it and Id think they might even lose weight on it if you feed it by itself.Im sure LazyJ could tell you what it is lacking to be suitable for hogs, but Im guessing it would be best to use it at about 50% if you was just wanting to use it up....hope this helps a little.

Many cattle feeds use UREA for protein supplements. Pigs don't process it as well as cattle. I would still use it but just watch the salt and urea content. As stated make it 50% max. You may need to cut it back to 1/3 if those two are too high.
