sow behavior?

I have a bred sow and gilt, yorkshire/ landcross mixes. They have been together since before I bought them. They are supposed to be due very soon, and recently the gilt (mostly) has begun "mounting" the sow. There is no action when she does this, just gets into position and stays there until her front paws slide off. Then she may, or may not quickly return to that position. Is this normal? Should I be separating them at this point? Thanks, Todd.

we have gilts that mount the boar we have, the one that does it most frequently is about 90lbs and will mount the boar and another gilt we have. we also had once owned two sows about 250lbs each and the black one would mount the pink one. i dont think it is a problem. if it is then there is something in the dirt at our farm to make them do that she may be around the time she would be in heat and if it doesnt last very long i wouldnt be too concerned.

I would separate them just based on what I've seen with mine, no mounting, but my gilt that was due first started to get agressive to my other gilt in the last couple days before she farrowed. Strange since she shows no agression towards me, but bites at her sister through the fence, just doesn't want her around her stall at all!

Don't worry about it.
