Berkshire Gilt Overdue

We have a Berkshire gilt that we AI'd on 12/16/11 and 12 hours later on 12/17/11. She did not cycle again. Her due date was March 10th, going with the 114 day gestation, but read that Berkshires normally run 116-120 days. With that, she should have been due around the 12-16th of March. My question for you is....have you ever had a pig go weeks past the estimated due date? She is very much in pig, babies are moving, belly is dropping and teats are filling and she is HUGE...but why so long of a gestation period? Wish she would just have those babies already!

That's what I get for not counting the days on the calendar. I was just trusting the chart that I had and it was wrong. Don't go by the chart in the Hobby Farm book! Thanks for the updated chart and I will try to relax now.

After seeing the Berkshire piglet pictures on here, I am more excited than ever. So, when I finally get some piglets of my own on the ground, you can bet pictures will be posted promptly.
