Custom feed recipes

I'll pick up a couple of Berkshire weiner pigs in a couple of weeks. They'll be 6 weeks old when I pick them up.
I've also met a gentleman that will custom grind all of my feed for me. He seems to know what he's doing, but he also told me that he'd grind whatever formula that I would like. I'd like to go into this with as much knowledge as possible, so I thought I'd check with you folks and get any all suggestions you may have. I've never really had this type of opportunity and would like to take full advantage, for the health of my pigs and the flavor of the meat.

Thanks in advance.

Scott

If you look at the "sticky" above titled FEED, lots of people have posted their recipes.

I did, and I was looking for more specific info on the percentages of the ingredients.

I'm also curious about minerals. Do I blend in any? How does a starter differ from a grower or a finisher?

Sagecreek,
I use 3 parts corn with 1 part roasted soybean, & then add 1 bag of hog finisher provided by fertrell, we have a good success with this mix & raise all our hogs together on pasture, i use the finisher mix because they are on pasture & get a lot from that as well so no need to use grower mix.

basically the only difference between grower & finisher is the protein level
if you want a higher protein level add more soy to the mix
good luck
Rick
