Looking for housing ideas

Ok we picked up our first pigs from Caz last week :1pig: :1pig: :1pig: and have just moved them into their new pasture area since the weather has finally cooperated and my dh could finish fencing. We've gone back and forth over what to build for them as far as a shelter goes. Right now the three little piggies have an extra large dog pen, but they are quickly growing out of that! So what does everyone else have and could we see some pictures please? We're mainly interested in breeding pigs, but will an eye on one for the freezer if that helps any. Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated. We've got a suprising amount of scrap lumber, t-11 siding even roofing from building our barn and chicken coop and other various projects around the place. So we would like to use what we've got and buy as little as possible. Since this is a three day weekend it would be great to do it this weekend while I'm off to help.

Thanks!!

we used t-111 and metal roofing with a few 2x4' to make 3 houses. I dont have a good picture at this moment. Gets lots of air flo and easy to put a few deviding 2x4's when baby time comes. It is 2 full sheets of t-111 3/4 sheet t-111 with half sheet for the front. with the scrap for the top door part. So far it has held against the pigs. If I can I will get pics after church and post to my blog and give the link. I also have a calf hutch that has held up to everything 3 teenaged pigs could muster and survived without a scratch. We paid for the t-111 but the total project only costed us 56 per house. and each house fits 2 sows and litters.

Thanks myheaven! That's pretty much what we decided on with what we have here. It'll be a little scaled down right now, but we can build another one when they've grown more. Where do you keep your boar? Right now we have all three running together.

Our boar Gordy normaly runs with the girls. He is a very good dad. he has never harmed one of his babies. He has his own house. sometimes the girls will sleep with him most time he is alone. my blog has some examples of his kindness. Most boars have bad raps. His babies climb all over him, bite him, eat his food and he just sits there. He is 850 lbs of pure sweetness. but yet I will never trust him. I love my animals but i will never let my gaurd no matter how small or kind.
