Looking for Heritage breed feeders in VA

We love Tamworths but would take any heritage breed. We raise them for ourselves and a local restaurant -- they want only heritage breeds. Our Tamworth supplier has gone out of business!!

We're in Greenville VA which is near Staunton or Lexington VA off I-81 in central VA. We can pick up. Thanks!

I know, I know -- and I should take inspiration from the folks on this page, but the sows and boars that my last supplier had were so HUGE, I just don't want to deal with them. It is so easy just raising up the feeders...

Heritage Pigs

Have you looked into Guinea Forest Hogs? :1pig: I've just gotten two gilts and plan to breed them in the spring. They are the greatest homestead pigs - and the meat is delicious! Small and friendly, they are easy to handle. There are not many breeders but they are starting to slowly make a come-back. PM me if you're interested in more info.

Boy oh boy! They sound as though they're just right for me! Maybe I'm glad I haven't gotten any pigs yet.
I'm gonna go google them.

if your willing to take a trip up 81 about 5 hrs to binghamton ny i have plenty of feeders that are Tamworth x berkshires. 15 at the moment, & we also just had this morning a litter of 5 pure bred berhshire boars. not alot i know but for our 1st pure litter of pigs im very happy. the top 3 will be kept back as boars & the other 2 will be castrated for feeders.
berks, especially pure berks are very hard to come by on the east coast. something to think about.
let me knwo if your interested
thanks

I've got some Tams in central Kentucky and was contacted last night by a fellow that wanted some breeding stock in VA. Maybe the two of you could get together and save on transportation!

Shoot me a PM if you are interested. I posted a message about them on the Barter Board a few weeks ago.
