Pig Bite

A man got bit by a pig on the back of the leg below the cheek by a male hog and refuses to go to the doctor. Any advise for the poor guy?

Yes go to the doctor!!!!!!!! when I was a kid my grandfather had a friend that got hit by a boar. the hog bite him below the knee and he lost the lower part of his leg, he said he took his eye off of it for a second and the old boy got him.

something I never forget.

SO tell him to go to his Doctor and have it looked out, just to be on the safe side.

Ditto that - I know from experience and it wasn't even a bite. I got gored by a boar with tusks that got impatient about how long it was taking me to give him his dinner. One of those sideways swipes that pigs are famous for. He ripped the overalls but not the trousers I had on under them and didn't even break the skin. It was on the crease of the buttock and leg. It bruised and then I forgot about it. 6 months later it abcessed big time and for over a month I was having it dressed every second day. I couldn't sit, couldn't stand, couldn't walk without pain and it took nearly a year to properly heal. It left a scar that still gets tender.

So tell your friend to stop being the typical macho male and get to the doctor before he has even bigger problems. Men are a pain in the arse at times. They won't go to a doctor, then when it all turns to custard, act like a dieing duck in a thunderstorm

Cheers,
Ronnie

if he is refusing to go, what more can you do for him besides pray?
He will wish he had gone. Needs a tetanus shot for sure and by this point probably IV antibiotics.

A hog bite is said to be poisinous. I know of a man who got bit while working at the local packing plant and he lost his arm due to the bite.

Tell him two words: Pastuerella Bacteria. It's a naturally occurring bacteria in most domestic livestock and transmits very well to humans....I have a healing wound on my leg to prove it. I washed it very well, with betadine. Antibiotic creamed it, soaked it and in 2 days my whole lower leg was a nasty shade of red....DH dragged me to the doctor, glad he did. Been almost a week on Levaquin and it's still not completely gone, but I still have my leg and am not hospitalized.....tell him to quit being scared the nurse will look at his hiney and go get right!

And there is also always that slight chance of rabies as well. Get it looked at by a medical professional. The life he saves might be his own!

I hate hate hate hate hate dr.s , clinics, and hospitals. IF this was me id be running screaming to the dr. or hospital if the dr was closed, to get it treated. My boar bit my boot just a love nip. Thank God it was only the boot. I would have been in deep trouble if it were my leg. Till Im no longer pregnant, or nursing the new baby, I will not be in the hog area.
