Strange, to me anyway, pig behavior

Long story as short as possible. Our neighbor caught a just weaned wild pig trying to get into his dog pen (the one with his two pitbulls so the pig isn't high on the IQ scale) and gave it to us.

Now he's around 100# and does something I have never seen a pig do. When the wife, who feeds him treats, goes out to the pen he rubs her with his nose. He does not root her but rubs her with the flat front of his nose.

Anyone ever seen a pig do this?

Yep. We get "pigged", meaning rubbed with mud, dirt, slobber, whenever we walk into the pen with our sows or boar. Pigs explore and experience much of the world with their snouts.

I've been rooted by many a pig but this isn't that. He will come up and very gently nuzzle DW with the front of his nose. I've had him do it to me one time, think of a small child rubbing your arm the palm of their hand.

Most of my pigs do this. It is a non-aggressive and accepting behaviour.

Cheers,
Ronnie
