Bloody pig

I have a feeder barrow, around 150#. He is bleeding profusly out his nose or mouth. I first noticed a small amount of blood a few days ago. I thought it was a minor injury of some kind. This morning there was at least a pint if not more blood on the ground near the pigs mouth. The pig has a good appitite, and is active and alert, but does look run down. Any ideas what would cause this?

Tink, a pint is a lot for a 150 lb animal who also has had smaller chronic losses (basing that estimate on how it would be for a human).

Not being a pig person but a general animal lover I'd guess he's got a piece of debris stuck up his nose. But this sounds too serious to guess at. 150 lbs is enough pork to economically justify a vet visit, I'd think--especially if there's any chance he's got a contagious problem.

He doesn't sound sick enough for bird flu (what susie said) but the blood loss to me is what would make me think this has to be punted up a level of care.
