Talking Where to buy dairy goats in MD

My husband and I have a small farm in Maryland in Baltimore County. Currently we have a lot of chickens, 2 dogs and a rabbit.

We want to get 3 goats. Preferably 2 female dairy goats and a male. We'll probably want a wether eventually to keep the buck company when he's not in with the girls.

After researching goats we believe we would prefer mini goats and we are leaning toward mini-LaManchas but are open to other dairy varieties. We would use the milk mostly for cheese.

Does anyone know where we can get reasonably priced dairy goats in Maryland?

Thanks,

Very extensive listing. You can search by county.

We got ours from http://www.blueridgedairygoats.com/ - Grade A dairy. Not cheap, tho.

What is your idea of reasonable?

Not cheap just reasonable

Well, I saw some goats online for over $500 per goat, I even ran across one farm selling goats at $1400 each. A bit rich for my blood. I am not planning to show the goats.

I am looking for dairy stock from a farm where they do not test positive for CL or other diseases. I think $300 or less per doe is the range I am looking for. I am basing this on what I have been reading.

Talking Thank You!!!!

The links I got from ya'll were a big help!!! I contacted a couple of breeders who have goats for sale. I have settled on looking at LaMancha's and Nigerian Dwarfs.

Now I have to decide what age I want them... they both have does at different ages.

Cheers,
