Vicki & others in Rita's path

Thinking of all of you in that area, hoping you have a safe place for your families and critters. I'm too far way to be helpful, but my thoughts are with you.

Aye, Vicki, as soon as I heard it was coming to Texas, I thought of you and the others in Texas. I hope you're all OK. Check in if you can, OK? We're worrying about you.

Thanks for your thoughts. I live about 15 minutes from Vicki. We are both going to be staying home during the hurricane. We are hoping everything be alright since we aren't on the dirty side of the storm any longer (for now at least). Will try to check in if we don't lose power.

How sweet, thankyou! We are ready. The prepared kind, the only thing I had to purchase was extra feed and hay for some visiting goats and matches. I was out of matches Now as long as the wind doesn't take down any trees we will be fine! Will be back online when we can. Right now to geared up to sleep! vicki

Good to hear from you guys up NE, we were chewing our fingernails for 48 hours when they were forecasting landfall directly south of us about 75 miles. We're also staying and ready, I used my bulk milk tank to store water, just wish I had more gas for the generator, but there's no gas for several counties in any direction. Hope that changes pronto after the storm. Good luck to you all, and god bless.

My prayers are with you all too.
Vicki, I can't remember if I ever knew, which side of Houston are you?

I have several cyber friends in harms way. Wish I could do something to help besides just pray. I also have family that live in moble homes south of houston and we have not heard where they are right now. I sure hope they are not on the road somewhere stuck in traffic.

On another board someone said they had talked to Vicki and they were OK.
So were the goats. Several others that live in that area have checked in also.
They have no electric or phone service yet. It may be quite a while before they have service again.

Shelby, thanks for calling me back during all of this. I know you had your own preparations to make as well. Thanks for the offer of the big cage for the piggies. But with the way they are and my inability to lift anything too heavy, I had to go with a trailer. I got a trailer and took them to madisonville county fair grounds. I'm on the way to pick them up right now. So glad I got a trailer because what muscles I did have before the storm are now shot. I had to get someone to hook my trailer up last night because I just couldn't lift it again. I've taken it off and put it on 4 times in the last week but my back just wouldn't let me do it one more time last night.

Anyway, thanks again and that was really sweet of you to call me back! The :1pig: thanks you too.

I'm traveling today to Orange, Tx. to get my aunt and uncle out. If I can get up to Vickis to check on her, I will try to do that. WIDESPREAD power outages and misery with the heat wave is the condition thruout east texas. Vicki is north of an area that has been on the news regularly, Cleveland, which has no power and no anticipation of power. I will be taking some supplies, I'll do my best to report in tomorrow.
