Question I need some Nigerians...

Anyone between MT and WA state
breed Nigerian Dwarfs?

I've GOT to find smaller goats to milk...
our are just taking a toll on my strength.
We have a couple nubians that I'll be
wanting to find a home for...and as they
are mainly my responsibility, DH has
decided to let me buy some Nigerians
in the spring. Would love to deal with
other HT folks!

Thanks for the reply, Laura. We have our
hearts set on the ND's...just can't stand
looking at an earless goat...though their
udders look fabulous!!

We've considered starting our own kinder
herd but can't find a reg. pygmy buck
within resonable driving distance...though
AI is a possibility. We had a chance to
purchase a starter herd of ND's from folks
locally, then never heard back?!

It always seems like when you want to
sell an animal, no one will pay your price.
But, when you want to buy an animal,
everyone's asking too much...Just saw
reg. nubian does for $50 locally. Too
bad we're looking for dwarfs!

Are you in Montana? I just sold my buck out there, and the woman purchased a number of does, so she'll likely have kids in the spring. Plus she might be able to put you in touch with a more local breeder. I think she's a couple hours west of Spokane, WA, in Montana. If you PM me with an email address, I'll forward it to her, and she can take it from there.

I had trouble with the tiny ears thing for quite a while myself. When I finally figured out that the Lamanchas were as close as I was going to get to those wonderful Murcian goats Mackenzie mentions in his book, though, and I started looking at the rich milk and quiet temperament, somehow, the look sort of grew on me! I definitely understand where you're coming from though. It did take a while. Now they just look kind of sleek to me. My sister says they have a certain "charm." Could have fooled me, though, for years!

I am looking for a Nubian milk goat- Where are you finding them for 50 dollars? Or perhaps when you are ready to sell yours you could let me know?

Thanks!
Susie
