Lump in udder

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone can give me some insight on this problem. My doe has a small, hard "wart" inside her udder. It feels to be about the size of a BB pellet, and I can feel it before and after she is milked. It also feels like it might have a "root". Everything I have read (so far) mentions that tumors are rare (?)

My experience with abscesses is that they are relatively soft and I've never seen (or felt) them on the udder -- mostly on the neck area. This appears to slow growing as it has stayed the same size for awhile (~1 month)

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Shep

My goat has several; they aren't growing. Milk is OK; no mastitis.

Thanks Hank/Narita for the info. Do you have any idea what causes that? How do you know the milk is okay...have you had it tested? BTW, she had mastitis in this side last year, but it cleared up and no sign of it this year. Udder is notably smaller though. How long have your goats had them...in other words, does it last for a season and go away or does it stay for good?

Thanks again!
