When to wean?

We've sold two buckling myotonic kids. Yay! What age should we wean them from their mom? And how?

I would leave them on her for about three months or more. They will need her milk and company to grow up healthy and happy.

You can wean them in stages. Put them in a pen away from mom at night when they turn three months old, let them with her during the day. Make sure they have free choice water, hay and grain at night and during the day. Do this for about a week, then start keeping them in by themselves so that they are only with mom long enough to nurse well once or twice, then put them up again. Then gradually don't let them see her at all. They will adjust and so will mom. Don't sell them until they are fully weaned and adjusted and eating well, or you could sell a big problem. Good Luck!

weaning

We wean our kids at 2 months when we sell them. Otherwise we don't; mom's usually do that themselves.
