Question Protecting you investments

In the horse world, many horses are insured for such things as loss of use, fertility, major medical and mortality, to name a few.
Some people are investing considerable sums of money into their Boer goats. Can you get insurance for them as well? And from where?

We have our insurance through Farm Family and are able to insure our goats in a couple of ways.

We have our best goats "scheduled" on our policy. Just like jewelry or paintings etc. you give your agent a list of the goats you want to insure and their value. We have about $9,000.00 insurance on several specific animals and it costs about $75.00/year.

Also because we buy, sell and transport goats we have an umbrella policy that has an amount of $20,000 just in case we are in an accident. Makes sense that if you sell someone a goat or two for $1500.00 or so dollars and you're in an accident while your delivering them and the goats were killed you would either have to replace the goats or refund the money. If the accident was someone elses fault you may have a difficult time getting the other insurance company to pay what the goats are really worth.

Works for us and the premiums are very reasonable compared to a loss.
