Fescue question

About 14 months ago we put down grass seed where we had done some digging and excavating. It is where my goats can reach. I did not know any better and used a golf coarse grass seed. Well, it finally started coming up this year, and someone told me that I should kill it with spray as soon as possible or the "fescue" in it could make my goats really sick and even die. Is this true?
What is the best way to get rid of it?
Could my goats already be sick?

If that were true Missouri would have lots of dead goats..! The endrophyte fungus may have some effect on them & there may be nutritional deficits for some goats(dairy) ,but the majority of grazing pastures here are fescue..We do have management requirements with horses & cows on fescue,but it is a good grazing grass.. Fescue is good grazing land and the only issue I know of has to do with horses. If a horse is pregnant, when it gets close to term, it should not graze fescue as it makes the placent tough and some times the foal cannot get out of the sack in time.

Somone has confused the endophyte fescue issue for horses with goats.
Goats eat fescue, though they prefer to browse other stuff.
