Making powdered/evaporated milk?

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to turn raw whole or skim goat's milk into powdered/ evaporated milk? Or condensed milk?

I want to make yogurt, but I'd like to be able to thicken it with the powdered milk. I also have a lot of other recipes I'd like to try that call for powdered milk. I don't use gelatin or store-bought milk, so I think my only option is to make powdered milk.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I think you need to have specialized equipment to make *powdered* milk. Evaporated milk is just that - milk that has had some of the moisture/water evaporated from it. Double boiler system and hold it at pasteurizing temperature for an hour or two - no lid so the steam can escape...but I've never tried it and there may be a better way, too...I just normally add store-bought powdered mik to thicken my yogurt.

Thanks, Sarah. I thought I heard somewhere that you could make powdered milk with no special stuff, but maybe I was thinking of the evaporating method you mentioned. Oh well.
