I don't want horns in my herd. Others do. I take them off with an iron burner - last year I used the goat tip and had a perfect disbudding on my Nubian, but the Saanen girl got scurs, we re-did them, and they still grew back. This year I used the calf-tip on the buckling and it appears to have done the trick...give me a month and I'll let you know for sure.
It's fast, fairly simple (stinks like heck!), and they heal relatively quickly.
