If you have a chicken with an weeping, nasty wound, it's possibly lymphoid leukosis aka mareks. Nasty. There's a vaccine, if you can get it, for chicks. If this is a pet bird, your vet can do a titer to check for the disease -- if it's livestock (not a pet) kill the bird if there's any suspicion of marek. Even if the bird survives, they're likely to continue to spread the bug.

Look up in a good chicken vet text or google, if chickens get the bacteria cornybacterium pseudotuberculosis....or.... C. Ovis...if they do than yes it is the same bacteria that causes the CL abscess in goats and sheep. Vicki
